  Summary
  Goals

The Dynamic Ergodic Divertor (DED) is an authorized experiment at TEXTOR. Apart from fusion-relevant aspects the DED works on experiment questions from the area of basic physics; only for this part means are to be requested in the context of the SFB. These contain the questions:

  • How does the structure of the ergodisierten magnetic field look?
  • Which influence does the ergodisation exert on particle transport inside the plasma? Is transport diffusiv, sub-diffusiv or super-diffusiv?
  • Which influence on transport possess the magnetic islands?
  • Can the islands function as "seed" for "tearing modes"? Can tearing modes be suppressed by non-resonant modes?
  • Which structure possesses the electrical field in the ergodic outer zone?
  • How does the time-dependent perturbative field penetrate from the outside up to the resonant zone?
  • Which structure do the shielding stream, which are produced by the time-dependent DED-field, possess?
  • Which influence does the rotation of the perturbative field possess on the chaotic structure? Which influence does the inertia of the ions have on the current along the magnetic lines of flux?

The fundamental questions of this subproject are the primarily experimental counterpart to the theoretical investigations of the subproject A1: Local measurements and evaluations of the ergodic range and experimental characterisation of the local structures stand in the foreground. The fusion-relevant part such as heat deposition, particle transport in the plasma edge zone, screen of impurity atoms and energy inclusion is not the subject of research here.
